Carlton House Terrace, home of the Royal Statistical Society, was the venue for this year's annual statistical awards ceremony that highlights statistical excellence and dissemination. The Royal Society awarded CDS’ Easy Read version of the Life Opportunities Survey with a special commendation saying it 'pushed boundaries and set new standards' on how official statistical analysis should be communicated.
The award was in recognition of the Easy Read version of the Life Opportunities Survey (LOS), which CDS produced for the Office for Disability Issues and Office for National Statistics.
Ian O'Sullivan, receiving the award, said 'It's the first time official statistics have been disseminated in an Easy Read format… the real value is that the end product of all our work will be utilised to much greater effect and have a greater impact on a much wider audience.'
