The objective

ABC independently verifies and reports on media performance, providing a major trading currency for media owners and buyers across print, events, digital and evolving platforms. ABC had two websites – one for off-line media and another for digital media.

ABC’s five year old websites needed a complete overhaul. Content was handled by a third party making updates cumbersome and inefficient. The websites were also out of date with ABC’s current branding.

To address these issues ABC commissioned CDS to develop a website that:

  • reflected the current ABC brand
  • incorporated information held on both ABC and ABCe sites in a single site
  • enabled non technical staff to make changes to content
  • provided end-users with bespoke reports

How the objective was achieved

CDS implemented the following solutions:

  1. To provide corporate information CDS recommended and implemented Adobe Contribute because it offered the most cost-effective solution for ABC’s non-technical staff to manage content via an easy to use administration interface. Duplicate effort required to update two separate websites (ABC and ABCe) was removed, further streamlining content management and improving efficiency. The design of the new site was handled by ABC’s design agency which aligned the look of the site with the current brand.
  2. After analysing the huge amount of data ABC held, it was decided that SQL database and reporting services would offer the most flexible and user-friendly solution. End-users are now able to create specific made to measure reports. ABC also wanted to develop a subscription model. CDS incorporated an ecommerce and online payment gateway solution to manage the subscription process.

ABC made use of the following CDS services during this project:

  • Content Management implementation
  • Application development
  • Application support, maintenance and management
  • Training
  • End-user SLA governed service delivery
  • PRINCE ll Project Management and User Group Management

Results

ABC now has in-house control over the content of their website. This reduces costs and speeds up the time between content creation and going live time on the ABC website.

End-users can easily generate reports that meet their specific requirements – a vast improvement on the previous system which only provided generic data. Customers no longer need to contact ABC directly for a specific report, saving the organisation time, resources and effort, which can now be used more productively by the organisation.
