Welcome to the Writing services Gallery.
We usually provide more than one service during a project; for example we write, design, print and create web versions of our customers' publications. Our unique strength lies in the ability to offer a full end-to-end service.
Please contact us to find out how we can help you successfully deliver your next project.

Jigsaw magazine
THE OBJECTIVE The main objective was to create a single, highly effective internal communications vehicle that increases a sense of loyalty, unity and identity among council staff. HOW THE OBJECTIVE WAS ACHIEVED Surrey County Council used independent research and employee feedback to shape and develop the most effective communications vehicle for the organisation. Jigsaw is a departure from anything Surrey County Council has produced before. It is a staff magazine that is developed, driven and contributed to by staff. (The senior management team and councillors are not encouraged to play an active role to avoid it becoming a `corporate mouthpiece’.) The emphasis is on fun but not frivolity, communication but not condescension, appreciation not irreverence. A lively editorial style, combined with strong visual imagery and bright colours, resulted in a dynamic award-winning magazine. |

English Nature magazine
THE OBJECTIVE The magazine covers a broad range of nature and conservation-related topics. It supports English Nature's objectives, primarily to get people involved in enjoying and looking after the natural environment. HOW THE OBJECTIVE WAS ACHIEVED Six issues of the magazine are published per year. Each issue deals with a particular theme, for example health and nature. Working with English Nature's editor we decide on the content, then our journalists liaise with conservation officers and other contributors across England, ensuring broad coverage. The magazine is read by English Nature staff, conservationists, volunteers and people interested in nature conservation. We also source photography and provide graphic design, printing and distribution services. |

DEAC Annual Report
THE OBJECTIVE The Disability Employment Advisory Committee (DEAC) required an annual report in an 'easy read' format to make it accessible to people with learning disabilities. HOW THE OBJECTIVE WAS ACHIEVED CDS developed its Easy Read System which integrates writing and illustration to enhance legibility. A good layout and structure make the document easy to navigate while attention to tone of voice, terminology, typography and visual style all help ensure that it is clear and appealing to the audience. RNIB guidelines were followed to make certain the annual report was accessible. Corporate branding was respected and followed. Finally, appropriate paper and printing methods were chosen by our Print Management team. From concept to final printed product, the DEAC Annual Report was hailed as a great success. |
