The appointment marks the next step in our ambitious growth plans to double the size of the business again and achieve our £50m turnover target by 2020.

Gair’s arrival will free up CDS Chief Executive, Fergus Bailie to focus on his role as CEO of parent company, The Baird Group, which includes Newspress and newly formed CDS Defence Support based in Cheltenham.

CDS is part of a multi-award winning communications group with a turnover in excess of £30 million. The group employs over 240 people out of 10 locations, with the energy and capability to reach every citizen of the United Kingdom and beyond via print and digital-channels and contact every day.

Fergus Bailie said: “I am extremely proud of the work we do to improve people’s lives through sharing knowledge. Since I took over in 2011 we have grown considerably, both in terms of revenue and talent within the business. Our ambitions continue, building on our strong foundation. To enable us to take the next leap forward we have completed a substantial internal reorganisation. The last piece in the jigsaw was to bring in Mark, with a remit to focus 100% on the growth of our omnichannel communications business.”

We have also made targeted corporate and property acquisitions. The Group has expanded nationally and internationally. My role now is to focus on growth across the Group and to help the MDs meet their challenging growth objectives.”

Mark Gair said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at CDS. I have been very surprised by the scale and capability of the services CDS provides across its current customer base which extends across print, marketing and digital channels. The complexity in the solutions provided within high profile brands and government bodies is a testament to the level of service and commitment from the entire team.

The management team has set a clear five-year strategy with ambitious plans to grow the business in both revenue and services. The foundations of the business are very strong and I believe CDS has a fantastic opportunity to bring its wealth of talent and capability to continue its development in the public sector, and build focus and stature in the private sector.

I am thrilled to lead the team and deliver the strategy in the next stage of its business growth and future plans.”

CDS’ clients trust them to provide business-critical communications that make a difference to people’s lives such as: helping the British Army fight Ebola in Africa; keeping the UK moving with National Rail and Transport for London; protecting London’s safety with the Met Police and building customer wealth for firms like Aberdeen Asset Management and Zurich Insurance.
