University’s ground breaking ‘Digital Journey’ wins BIFM HC Award

The award is further recognition that Middlesex University, in partnership with CDS, have developed a market leading solution that could help universities and higher education sector organisations more easily achieve their objectives on their digital journey. CDS’ client Middlesex University has reached the final award stage after being shortlisted for the prestigious British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Awards 2013.
Middlesex University were nominated for their “New Ways of Working” program. CDS has worked with Middlesex University as their key strategic technology partner since 2010, when the company was awarded a 3 year contract to deliver print and associated services. Since then the list of services CDS provides has grown to support the university’s ambitious technology strategy; with greener, more efficient and cost effective management of information at its heart.
The BIFM Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in facilities management (FM). To be independently evaluated and shortlisted for a BIFM Award is a very noteworthy achievement in a highly competitive market.
Middlesex University wrote the following in their awards entry.
Application in general FM
“It is the considered view of the Directors and Senior Management Team at Middlesex University that the consolidation of space, combined with technological enhancements to service delivery can deliver substantial benefit to similar organisations with the same end goal.
Across the HE sector, budgets are being reduced, margins are being squeezed and at the same time, the students experience is high on the agenda. Our ability to meet the student’s expectations is paramount in attracting future investment into our market.
By consolidating our cost base, we are able to re-invest in the University Infrastructure, services and facilities, thereby increasing the profitability of the University, and in doing so, allows us to deliver benefit directly back to our students.
By working with a service partner [CDS] with experience, capability and management expertise to engage, support and share the Journey with us, we have been able to achieve all of the above. It is equally important that like-minded University’s or businesses with vision have a similar confidence in their service partner to deliver such a transformation.
Testament to what we have achieved can be supported by a recent fact finding visit to Middlesex University by another leading University, who had heard about our work and were keen to witness it in action. Suitably impressed they returned home with a vision and drive to follow our lead and to work toward a similar solution.
In similar vein, the Senior Management Team at Middlesex University are often invited to listen and engage in industry leading workshops concerning “the way forward” in Higher Education. We have yet to experience a peer that has achieved what we have achieved, in the timeline that we have achieved it in and with the support that we have received from our Executive Board.”
