CDS achieves Cyber Essentials Plus
CDS is pleased to announce that we are now Cyber Essentials Plus accredited.
The Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme helps satisfy prospective clients that they can depend on us to have effective cyber security measures in place.
This builds on our previous Cyber Essentials certification and involves in-depth independent testing of our networks and infrastructure.
It also augments our ISO 27001 (Information Security) certification.
What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials helps organisations put in place basic levels of protection against cyber-attack. This demonstrates to our customers that we take cyber security seriously. The scheme has two levels:
- Cyber Essentials is an independently verified self-assessment. We assess ourselves against five basic security controls and a qualified assessor verifies the information provided.
- Cyber Essentials Plus is a higher level of assurance. A qualified and independent assessor examines the same five controls. They test that they work in practice by simulating basic hacking and phishing attacks.
The five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because they help protect against unskilled internet-based attackers using commodity capabilities. These are freely available on the internet.
Organisations accredited to Cyber Essentials are encouraged to re-certify at least once a year and, if appropriate, progress their security.
